Article Abstract:
Washington-based defense analyst Thomas Donnelly views that the Pentagon's proposal to halt its purchase of C-17 airlifts aircrafts might represent a false economy. As reflected in its proposed fiscal 2007 budget, the Department of Defense (DOD) would buy 12 more C-17s in fiscal 2007 at a price of about $3 billion and then stop at 180 aircraft.
