Small to medium business (SME) owners asks for ideal business structures like limited liability, allowing full access to capital gains tax (CGT) concessions. None of these basic structures meet all the criteria in this country and accountants trying to deal with all of this waste a lot of time and there is consequent cost burden on SMEs.

The simplified tax system (STS) is taken up by less than 20 percent of small businesses. An assessment of STS is presented and it is found that the system might work for the clients if properly understood.
