Building relationships with technology transfer officers

Article Abstract:

Good relationships between inventors and technology transfer officers could result in growing dividends at every stage in the marketing of an invention or in forming a company. The various factors that can affect the relationship between the scientist entrepreneur and the technology transfer professional (TTP), and the consequences for the researcher and the startup of maintaining a healthy relationship throughout the process, are discussed.

Building nanoliteracy in the university and beyond

Article Abstract:

A program called nanoScience & Technology Studies (STS) is framed by the research group at the University of South Carolina with an aim of nurturing a nanoliterate university community with programs drawing from the natural sciences, engineering, the humanities and the social sciences, and embracing all interest persons. The three premier programs for nurturing nanoliteracy include coursework, scholarships and outreach.

Material transfer agreements: Open science vs. proprietary claims

Article Abstract:

Material transfer agreements (MTAs) are used in connection with the transfer of materials for safekeeping purposes, research or commercial use. MTAs would authorize the exchange of materials between collaborating companies for the purpose of developing a product, prohibit the materials' use or transfer to third parties for purposes other than the collaboration, and define a mechanism for marketing the product.
