CAs ... on the road

Article Abstract:

Opportunities to travel all over the globe are open to chartered accountants working as internal auditors for large multinational corporations. These travelling accountants get to see unusual places, be exposed to different cultures, and to save money because most of their expenses are shouldered by their firms. Most of all, traveling to the different operations of international business corporations affords internal auditors the chance to acquire a good understanding of that firm's 'whole picture.' However, there is also a downside to internal auditing. Aside from tight deadlines, auditors may encounter language barriers and may become depressed with constantly living in hotels. On the lighter side, travelling auditors also tend to get fat given their expense account meals and the lack of time for regular exercise.

Processes and countermeasures in overtaking road accidents

Article Abstract:

Most overtaking road accidents are caused by a decision to begin overtaking in unsuitable circumstances. In 82% of all mistaken decisions to begin overtaking studied from the Nottingham Accident Database for Overtaking, the decision was made on the basis that there was no oncoming traffic in sight at the time. Overtaking drivers do not regard anything that cannot yet be seen as a hazard, and also appear to overlook the possibility of any dangerous interaction with the vehicles they are overtaking.

Modelling complex processes in GTA

Article Abstract:

The conceptual framework of GTA was expanded with support for modelling complex processes. Representations of task models in GTA focused originally on object oriented templates. New concepts were introduced along with new types of representations, based on workflow representation techniques, and the design environment EUTERPE was developed to support the views.
