Cable show seeks moviegoers' help

Article Abstract:

Comedy Central, a cable television channel jointly owned by Time Warner and Viacom, is conducting a promotional tour of moviehouses in states where the channel is not popular with some cable operators. The cable channel uses a trailer featuring the cartoon program 'South Park' which is presented before R-rated films are shown. The promotion began on Oct 10 and will continue until Nov 1997. Comedy Central VP-affiliate markets Steve Mayles stated that the marketing strategy is aimed at sampling the market and creating brand awareness among cable operators.

SC Johnson builds business at the base of the pyramid

SC Johnson's partnership with with community organizations and youth groups in Nairobi is aimed at creating a new business model. The model is the result of field testing the Base of the Pyramid protocol. SC Johnson's engagement in promoting economic development and social change is discussed.

Cartoon Network tackles a children's issue by making activism and volunteering fun

Article Abstract:

Cartoon Network launched the Rescuing Recess campaign, which aims to preserve or reinstate playtime for elementary school children. The cable network worked with child advocacy groups 'and policy making organizations and initiated National Recess Week to raise awareness of the issue.
