Can occupational guidelines for work-rest schedules be based on endurance time data?

Article Abstract:

A review of several independent research papers indicates that the Dul model of work/rest schedules does not have predictive validity. The Dul model posits that endurance time may be used as a predictor of work schedule that would decrease the possibility of musculoskeletal disorders. The reason for this criticism lies in individual differences of exercise protocol. The Dul model does not take these factors into consideration.

Margin of safety for the human back: a probable consensus based on published results

Article Abstract:

Published data on the epidemiological, biomechanical, physiological and psychophysical aspects of back injuries resulting from work are comparatively analyzed for cases of isometric and isokinetic lifts at three different velocities. The synthesis of current literature, which assumes the origin of back pain to be multifactorial, is an effort to inferentially determine a safety margin to avoid backache.
