Changes in gait kinematics and posture with the use of a front pack

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the way in which the manner of walking is affected by the position of a backpack and a front pack with loads of 10 and 15% of body weight is illustrated. It revealed that the use of the backpack demonstrated a greater flexion in each stride and there is an increase in the forward head position whereas the use of the front pack demonstrated a more upright posture due to the reduction of shear forces acting on the spine which could lead to back injuries.
