POSIT-ive and negative aspects of the societal marketing concept: stakeholder conflcits for the tobacco industry

Article Abstract:

Societal marketing has been promoted a s new direction for marketing. Companies need to take note of long-term social issues. Companies which have benefited from this strategy include the UK's Co-operative Bank. The situation is complex in the case of companies involved in controversial activities such as the tobacco industry. Even companies in these fields can benefit from a societal marketing strategy and they are more likely to have a long-term future.

Planning and doing: the relationship between marketing planning styles and market orientation

Article Abstract:

The relationship between marketing planning and market orientation is means-end link, whereby a goal of market orientation is selected and apporached. The balance between the recommendations of planning theorists and recommendations developed through empirical research is poor, and a conceptual framework for examining marketing planning practices is discussed.
