Cheaper deals for landlords

Article Abstract:

Four UK mortgage providers have introduced special mortgages geared to landlords and private investors. Owner-occupiers can obtain cheaper mortgages than landlords, but these new mortgages are an improvement on previous deals for landlords. The introduction follows lobbying on the part of the Association of Residential Letting Agents. Landlords may obtain better yields for poor quality properties but such properties may not achieve capital growth.

Residential property: landlords making a comeback

Article Abstract:

The UK real estate industry is seeing the revival of landlords as rent controls have been loosened and demand has risen with property prices stabilising. Ordinary buyers of property are becoming landlords, as are homeowners who are unwilling to sell. Management of a property is easier if landlords live nearby. Company lets offer security though the property has to be smarter, and it is an advantage if it is near a subway station in London.
