Conflicts between pleasure, aesthetics and health in food consumption: an exploratory study in Brazil

The women of Brazil are studied, to explore the aspects that influence their decision in choosing the types of food for themselves and their family. The pleasure, aesthetics, health consciousness and the media propaganda of thinness do play a role in selecting what to eat.

Encoding advertisements: the creative perspective

The role of advertising in society is analyzed. The way in which advertisements are encoded with meanings by the advertising creatives is discussed. The role of advertising practitioners as cultural intermediaries is also examined.
