Curing the Monday blues: a U.S. Navy guide for structuring cross-functional teams

Article Abstract:

The US Navy is able to improve productivity by structuring process improvement teams. Short-term results of such team-structuring efforts include an emphasis on mission-essential processes and increased senior leader commitment and understanding. In addition, a plan for deployment and execution and improved team infrastructure develop out of team structuring. Long-term outcomes, on the other hand, include increased systems thinking, continuous process improvement, enriched climate in the organization and improved mission performance.

Team traps: what they are, how to avoid them

Article Abstract:

Organizations which successfully implemented quality management programs with a team-based approach can still collapse as victims of team mistakes. Such traps, which arise from failure of team leadership, focus and capability, include the strategic blunder, colliding work cultures and inability of management to transfer learning. To prevent these from occurring, teams should maintain clear objectives, a customer-oriented focus, effective meeting habits and accountability for action.

The new - and unimproved? - corporate integrity

Article Abstract:

Corporate integrity is integral to every organization. Its absence is manifested in the lack of respect for authority among employees. To institute integrity, loyalty and respect for authority in the workplace, managers should mean what they say and have realistic plans and vision. In addition, they must reward appropriate work appropriately. Managers must also know and address the visions of their employees.
