Article Abstract:

The ICAA's campaign to improve tax administration will be particularly focused to rectify inequities and anomalies in the tax law. The ICAA is working with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to help design a better end process, to log and prioritise issues, but it is argued that the review and change processes that are effective in achieving its objective shall need more transparency and discipline.

Tackling the too-hard basket

Article Abstract:

The ICAA found serious inadequacies in the Australian Tax Office (ATO) administration in spite of enhanced resources. The Tax Law Improvement Project should recommence, and adequate funding be allocated to ensure that appropriate resources are in place for maintenance of the tax law.

Do we need an Inspector-General?

Article Abstract:

Article examines whether Australia needs to establish a position of Inspector-General of Taxation. Accordingly, the ICAA believes if the right person was appointed to the position it might result in a positive change to tax administration.
