Executives at Orkin Exterminating Company Inc. (Orkin) realized they had to alter their approach to personnel management if they were to avoid the turnover problem direct sales operations typically suffer. With this in mind, Orkin engaged Fortune Group Inc. (Fortune) to help it come up with a way of improving sales force retention and overall customer satisfaction. Fortune suggested a two-phase team-learning system which trains managers and sales personnel to be more effective.

BellSouth's AdWatch adds a local flavor
Article Abstract:
BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. has launched a new service which provides businesses a means by which to evaluate the results of their advertising efforts. Called AdWatch, the new service generates a phantom telephone line which can route calls to as many as three lines while providing information regarding each call. The service can also be useful for out-of-town companies who want to present themselves as local firms.
