Dearth of a salesman: hard times for top-line growth

Article Abstract:

US Companies are finding growth difficult to achieve, the demand for salesmen is high, and many companies lack pricing power. There is little confidence that fund managers can perform better than the S and P 500, so index trackers have become popular. There appears little threat from inflation, and many of the goods in stores have been imported from China or elsewhere in Asia. There is a strong supply of loans, which are aggressively advertised. US equities involve risk, and it is unclear whether blue-chip stocks will continue to perform well.
