The ad features cost-cutting plans and supporting charts which only document usage cost during the evening and weekend and not during business hours. The friendly-tone text includes costs and rates. Innovations in telecommunications technology are providing new tools in marketing, whether involving product development, selling, or improving customer service. Some examples are videoconferencing, interactive voice response telephone systems (IVR), fax-on-demand, and on-line data base services. Some applications of these innovations are discussed, such as Hewlett-Packard Co's use of videoconferencing in product development, IVR's call-handling capability and interactive applications and the use of data bases in business espionage.
