Do high fliers need an IT alter ego?
Article Abstract:
Information technology (IT) has developed so rapidly during its 25-year life span that the majority of managers have found it difficult to keep up with IT's technical innovations. Companies need to develop IT consultants to support the knowledge needs of senior management. Companies should search their internal IT departments for individuals who: have experience in IT; have worked with senior management; and have line environment management experience. The ideal IT support personnel for senior management will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate their experiences with the needs of others in different departments.

The impact of information technology on the education of the accountant
Article Abstract:
An exposure draft from the International Federation of Accountants examines the effect of information technology (IT) on the education of accountants. IT pervades office systems, communications, and computing; so its effect on the accounting profession is extensive. It is suggested that the use of IT should be integrated into the pre-qualification stage of training and education for accountants, with specialized courses added on the structure, design, and control of information systems.
