Does individual choice determine shift system acceptability?
Article Abstract:
The factors affecting shift system acceptability are investigated. Results show that individual control of work hours influences tolerance to shiftwork. Moreover, working on a system of internal rotation where individual preferencesfor rostering are taken into account is more effective than where individual preferences are not considered. Choosing to work on a permanent night shift dueto domestic reasons is also effective in tolerating shiftwork.

Advancing versus delaying shift systems
Article Abstract:
The effects of the direction of shift rotation on the well-being of the workers areinvestigated. It is assumed that rotation is done on three shifts, and systems are classified as advanced or delayed. Results show that the use of delaying shift system entails less problem, therefore it is more favored. Moreover, an advancing system that uses a quick return is to be avoided because it aggravates problems.

Does the "forbidden zone" for sleep onset influence morning shift sleep duration?
Article Abstract:
The sleep duration of morning shift workers is investigated. Results show that the degree of sleep duration truncation is highly dependent on leaving home time, and therefore also on awakening time. Moreover, sleep onset times among morning shift workersare affected by the presence of a "forbidden zone" for sleep because going to sleep before the "forbidden zone" will result in sleeplessness and anxiety.
