Drafting an Heir-Tight Will
Article Abstract:
The best way to see that when you die your estate goes to the people to whom you wish to leave things is to have a will. But even a will is no guarantee that things will turn out the way you want; disgruntled heirs and their lawyers could tie things up for years, with the lawyers getting a good part of the money. The first step to drawing up a more airtight will is to consult a lawyer who knows the laws of your state - and the law in general - and can draw up your will for you. Changes can be made by adding codicils; these too should be drawn up your lawyer. The will should be reviewed periodically to make sure all changes in circumstances have been accounted for. It should be read carefully before being signed. The original will should be kept by your lawyer, while you maintain a copy.
