Duck, Coke's Russian anchor is still fizzing: Coca-Cola Beverages
Article Abstract:
Coca-Cola Beverages was set up in 1998 and has a 50.1% stake held by Coca-Cola. The company's stock price has dropped since a profit warning was issued, and this is linked to currency collapses in Ukraine and Belarus. Emerging markets in Europe account for some half the sales of the group, and there are risks with some of these markets. Drops in profit in Ukraine and Belarus are consuming cash, and a major capital spending program could be affected. Investments will mean a loss per share in 1998 and earnings in 1999 are likely to be minimal.
