EGFR inhibitors square off at ASCO

Article Abstract:

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors represent a real market competition for targeted therapies and provide a case study to estimate what might happen to other targeted therapy markets in future. The annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists (ASCO) held on June 5-8, 2004, discussed EGFR inhibitors in detail and their benefits.

Making money and opening minds

The technological advances in brain monitoring techniques and use of computers to manage huge data have altered the field of neurotechnology. The funding and investments in this field can be increased by successful clinical trials of the techniques and publishing the results as well as selling the neurotechnology products to researchers and clinicians.

The biomarker historically refers to analytes in biological samples but any measurement that predicts a person's disease state or response to a drug can also be termed as biomarker. Biomarkers have evolved over time from simple single physiological, or laboratory parameters to highly complex imaging modalities or multi-marker proteomic panels.
