Article Abstract:
Winners of the Best of Category award in the Concepts/Students category of the 39th Annual Design Review were the Fingerspelling Hand (Concepts) and the Media Blanket (Student), both exemplifying the computer-interface theme that erupted this year, to judges' delight. Social responsibility and designs that reveal their function were also popular. Winners included computers and other media electronics, a daybed, vehicles, a fan, a science education system, lighting, eyeglasses, and a water carrier/purifier.

Article Abstract:
'The Architecture of Repose' by Byron Kuth and Elizabeth Ranieri was awarded the Best of Category prize in the 1999 Design Review environment category. The exhibit which is made of felt and steel was put together for the 'Fabrications' exhibition. The Samsung Plaza and Rodin Museum by Kohn Pedersen Fox was also nominated Best of Category. The panel of judges focused on economic, modest and calm projects.
