Equipment
Article Abstract:
Best of Category awards for equipment in the 39th Annual Design Review went to Apple's new adjustable keyboard and the EPT Blazer Catheter. Judges looked for products that addressed special groups of users and made esoteric technology more accessible. Consistent, clean designs stood out, especially those that creatively tied back into the manufacturer's general product line. Most winners were computers or electronic equipment for medical or scientific use; others were engines, office cabinets, and play equipment.

Equipment
Article Abstract:
Functionalism has greater significance than aesthetics in equipment designing, as a product should communicate its function at the most basic level. Designs often fail to comply with product ergonomics and user interface because rethinking of the interface would lead to extensive industry retraining. An industrial carpet cleaner's functionalism matched with ergonomics and aesthetics, which won it the Best of Category award.
