European exchanges go alternative

Article Abstract:

Seven new European exchanges are now making their impact and has already caught the attention of a number US firms. The new exchanges offer easier listing rules and lower fees and aim for the entrepreneurial type of lister such as emerging firms that require funding as well as those companies which are planning to expand. The new exchanges which are located in major markets in Europe includes Alternative Investment Market in London, Developing Companies Market in Dublin, Easdaq and Euro.NM Belgium in Brussels, Neuer Markt in Frankfurt, Nieuwe Markt in Amsterdam, and Nouveau Marche in Paris.

The Consumer Price Index, GNP, dollar prices, durable good orders and unemployment, consumer debt and consumer confidence levels are not enough for projecting interest rates and stock market performance. Such economic indicators are obsolete and lead to confusing and inaccurate forecasts. Stock market projections should also include such factors as technological advancements, investor behavior and the results of mergers and consolidations.

Exchanges insure against default

Article Abstract:

Several global securities exchanges have established arrangements for clearinghouse risk insurance. The insurance covers risk of default by a clearinghouse, which effectively extends investor protection. The service is offered by the American International Group and Asset Guarantee. The insurance is part of a continuing trend in the market for specialized financial risk management.
