Even without Marine One, Sikorsky on track to double business

Article Abstract:

Connecticut-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. is confident that it will be able to double its sales by the year 2008 even though it lost the contract for building the Marine One presidential helicopter. To achieve its goal of doubling the sales Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. plans to rely on its deal to build 1,200 UH60 Black Hawk helicopters and work out a plan for the risk-reduction phase of a contract for CH-53 Heavy Lift Replacement helicopter program.

Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) is planning an initial public offering of stock to fund its strategic growth objectives. However, Dan Goure, a former senior analyst with SAIC, cautions that at a time when future defense budgets are not guaranteed, the company's move towards expansion could prove counter-productive.
