Evidence of strategic effects in the modulation of orienting of attention

Article Abstract:

Voluntary attentional processes can modulate automatic orienting of attention. While the cue probability is directly proportional to attentional costs, the attentional impacts are lesser in experienced people who face attention-demanding situations daily. The findings of two experiments further confirm that practice increases attentional efficiency by decreasing attentional costs. The increased efficiency takes place when people are confronted with attentional-demanding contexts.

Mild body cooling impairs attention via distraction from skin cooling

Article Abstract:

The way in which sustained attention and spatial attention are affected by mild body cooling was documented in a study undertaken to increase the understanding of thermal stress and cognition. It was observed that while spatial orienting was not affected by cooling, attentional processing was impaired by the distracting effects of cold.

Influences of denucleation on contact force of facet joints under whole body vibration

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the influence of the injured disc, frequency, load and damping on facet contact forces of the lower lumbar spine showed that nucleus removal increases the facet contact forces under whole body vibrations.
