Experience is the best teacher: avoiding the pitfalls of "methodolotry."

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine case-based quality problem solving (QPS) as an alternative to the use of problem-solving techniques which have become prevalent among organizations. Although problem-solving methods have their own benefits, they have limitations and are not the only or best resource in most situations. QPS entails the analysis of problem-solving experiences that pertain to processes and products. The useful lessons that are derived from such experiences will then be compiled and made available to employees through training and job manuals. The method not only helps in solving current problems but also helps in preventing the occurrence of future problems.

Vietnam land of promise, pitfalls

Article Abstract:

A report on the opportunities and problems of trading with Vietnam by Channel Marketing Corp shows that business marketers will be able to meet Vietnamese demand for products. However, there are limitations, such as with electricity where there is a market for small scale generating and distribution equipment, but the Vietnamese market is unable to operate equipment with large consumption, such as air conditioning systems. Caterpillar is aiming to open an office in Hanoi and predicts potential revenue at $100 mill a year.
