Feature approaches to suspect identification: effect of multiple raters on system performance

Article Abstract:

A study looks into the effect of multiple raters on system performance in suspect identification using facial features. The study reveals that one, or two, police raters/suspect provide good feature system performance. However, additional raters do not provide further improvement in performance. Though a single rater gives good performance, the addition of a second rater has a negative effect on average retrieval rank of target suspects.
