Fed speeds up x-border payments

Article Abstract:

The electronic payment system, devised by the US Federal Reserve System in making reliable and efficient cross-border payments, is the alternative to paper check in paying pensions, foreign supplies and credits, reduces cost of across border transactions. The US government paid Canada almost $10.6 billion in 1997, but with this method the US will only pay $4.4 billion by 2007. The paper check alternative uses a standard currency conversion and costs only 10 cents per transaction compared to the usual charge of $20.

Workstation bandwagons

Company finance departments Like that of Conectiv, continue to buy workstations despite their price tags because of the need for more integrated and automated solutions. Conectiv exec Cindy Williams maintains that the software allows them to increase employee productivity instead of adding another person. Workstations typically gather and organize data for decision support but improvements have increased the utility of workstations.

P-Card growing pains

Article Abstract:

Purchasing cards (P-cards) have somewhat failed to deliver their promises of aggressive savings from frequent use but te market is growing at a steady 30% to 40% per year rate. Many of the companies pioneering its use have been forced to look for other providers because of lack of satisfactory results but some have realized large costs savings through frequent use and proper management of the system.
