Article Abstract:

Financial planners are facing new areas of regulation corresponding to changes within the industry. Division of state and federal regulation of investment advisors is controlled by the Investment Advisers Coordination and Supervision Act of 1996. Government regulation, including important SEC regulation, is supplemented by self-regulation of professional organizations in this expanding area of investment.
