Finnish day-of-the-week effects
Article Abstract:
The day-of-the week effects in the Finish stock market are investigated. A Tuesday effect is identified within the relatively small market. The lag on Tuesdays is attributed to the fact that several selling orders placed on Mondays are done on Tuesdays, related to the increased selling pressure during the weekend. Investors in Finish and other smaller markets are advised to plan orders so that selling occurs on Fridays and buying takes place at the beginning of the week.

On the dynamics of stock index futures and individual stock returns
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the two-way causality between the futures and cash market returns using the Granger causality method. Results showed that changes in the futures market can predict single stock returns more effectively than cash index returns. Results also indicate that the futures market generally updates information faster than the cash market. Nonsychronous trading was not found to be a vital factor in making futures returns head stock returns.

The lead-lag effect between large and small firms: evidence from Finland
Article Abstract:
A study on the relationship between stock prices in the Helsinki Stock Exchange in Finland shows that rates of return of large firms exert more influence on the rates of return of small firms in the short run. The situation is reversed in the long run because of inclusion of the error correction term in the forecasts. In the US, the reverse in both situations occurs in its stock market, resulting in greater forecasting efficiency.
