A number of fashion houses plan stock flotations, the most flamboyant being Versace. Some companies have performed well after a flotation, as is the case for Gucci, though that company has issued a profit warning. The company's value is related to its designer and this could create problems for Versace since its founder has died. Donna Karen has seen a drop in its stock price and has taken on a new chief executive to focus more on stockholder value.
