Fluorescent proteins from nonbioluminescent Anthozoa species
Article Abstract:
Green fluorescent protein (GFP) from the luminescent jellyfish Aequorea victoria has proved to be an excellent marker for gene expression and protein localization in a variety of biological systems. GFP is really not fully understood despite its convenient use. GFP proteins are not necessarily linked to bioluminescence.

Phasing in iodine for structure determination
Article Abstract:
Iodine is a favorite tool of X-ray crystallographers. A protein crystal structures can be solved using the phasing signal produced by an iodine containing amino acid incorporated into the protein.
