Gambling Act 2005 makes an appearance

Article Abstract:

The new provisions of the Gambling Act 2005 proposed by the United Kingdom government to reform the existing law are examined by the British Amusement Catering Trades Association (BACTA). The main goals of the regulations are to protect children and other vulnerable people, preventing gambling from being a source of crime, and determining that gambling is conducted in fair way.

Political poll disclosure: a Virginia law imposes limits on research

Article Abstract:

The Council for Marketing and Opinion Research (CMOR) in order to promote the interests of the research industry seeks amendment of the bill, which was introduced in Virginia to impose disclosure requirements on political polls. The scope of the law and its impact on legitimate research industry is delineated.

Research on the United Kingdom's National Health Service reveals no premium on audit fees as a result of industry specialization. Implications regarding the withdrawal of the performance audit from Audit Commission regulation are discussed.
