Getting to grips with jargon
Article Abstract:
Investors may find jargon used by stockbrokers to be confusing. There are three choices facing investors, to purchase stocks, sell them, or do nothing. Brokers use different systems of classifying stocks, which may include the terms 'weak hold' or 'neutral'. They may also have different time scales for their recommendations, and an indication of dividend performance, so a broker's classification may have three components. Other measures include beta factors, which relate stock price movements to an index.
