Go-getter arrivals put pressure on locals: into the cosy close-knit world that is the Manchester legal community have come ambitious Leeds' heavyweights. Will the home-grown firms now be forced to adopt more aggressive strategies
Article Abstract:
Manchester has an array of smaller law firms, although growth will lead to the merger of smaller firms. Addleshaw Sons & Latham has attracted commercial clients becoming a corporate lawyer, but does not plan to lord its success over too many smaller firms. Dibb Lupton Broomhead moved into Manchester in 1990, acquiring William Pryor & Co, an insolvency-based firm. The firm has seen strong growth in the city. Alsop Wilkinson is also another major firm, and its Manchester office has a good reputation for commercial work.
