Article Abstract:

Concern that UK house prices have risen to unsustainable level is now at the top of the UK policy agenda. Given the critical importance of housing in the UK (economically, socially and politically) a collapse in house prices could have devastating results, as it could push the economy into recession, cause immense human misery and impact adversely on the government's electoral fortunes.

Coping with terrorism

Article Abstract:

The head of Kern Consulting argues that both the Bank of England and the chancellor must respond firmly and rapidly to the terrorist attacks on London in order to avoid most acute economic dangers. Since the UK businesses fear higher taxes and business rates, the chancellor must make it absolutely clear that there would be no tax increases.
