How many raptors? Key number may be 1-4-2-1

Article Abstract:

The 'military strategy' of the fleet of F/A-22 Raptors is the prime issue of debate in the internal Pentagon with respect to the project 'one-four-two-one'. In this military strategy the Air Force should be able to perform homeland defense, assert a major presence in four points around the globe, be able to take on two major engagement around the world, and decisively defeat one of the two opponents to the extent.

CSAR or no, Air Force needs more V-22s: Analyst

Article Abstract:

The defense industry analysts revealed that the demands of the new rescue aircraft mission might compel the Air Force to buy more V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircrafts. The Air Force has submitted its request for proposals (RFP) for the new combat search and rescue (CSAR-X) aircraft and plans to acquire a total of 141 CSAR-X aircraft to replace the existing CSAR fleet of 101 low density/high demand HH-60Gs.

CSAR field a secret-but no surprise

Article Abstract:

The winner of the competition for combat search and rescue (CSAR) aircraft program, known as CSAR-X, will be announced by the Air Force in May 2006. Companies interested in bidding on CSAR-X, a new aircraft that would serve in pilot rescues and other missions had a deadline November 21, 2005 to respond to the Air Force request for proposals (RFP) with respect to the program.
