Article Abstract:

The International Accounting Standards Board which had been formed to set up a global accounting standards, has finally announced its agenda of technical projects. Among these are to develop accounting standards for share-based payments, insurance, business combinations and performance reporting.

The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), scheduled to come into force in November 2007, will require extensive changes to investment business practices. Affected firms will need to tackle several issues and those who cope best with compliance to the directives will be benefited.
