Apple's unlikely knight in shining armour
Article Abstract:
Microsoft will invest $150 million in Apple Computer, gaining a non-voting stake in the company's equity. Apple will provide Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Web browser with computers that it sells. Microsoft appears to be seeking to gain favor with competition authorities, since the company can argue that Apple's presence means that it does not have a monopoly on the market for PCs. Microsoft may also be also seeking to increase its stake in the browser market.
