IT companies' super soaraway sub-sector

Article Abstract:

Investors have shown very strong interest in the new information technology (IT) sub-sector of the UK stock market, which was launched on Jan 2, 1998. Indeed, Sage, Logica, Sema, CMG and Misys, the five largest companies in this sub-sector, have already seen their share prices rise by an average of 25%. The sub-sector covers 96 companies, of which 28 make up the IT index. The new IT index is likely to play a valuable role in boosting the profile of IT companies.
