The advertising community has welcomed Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulation for reinforcing advertising credibility. New government trends are easing FTC regulatory jurisdiction over advertising. Controversy among advertisers focuses upon the call for a precise definition of deception in advertising. Advertising could do without deregulation, since advertising requires a positive public image. The advertising industry is unsure over the impact of deregulation.
