Induction of specific T-cell tolerance by adenovirus-transfected, Fas ligand-producing antigen presenting cells
Article Abstract:
The induction of an immune response to the gene-therapy protein product or to the virus restricts adenovirus gene therapy. The failure of gene therapy readministration comes about from a specific T-cell response. Efforts to ease the T-cell response has been unsuccessful in fully destroying the reponse or in producing general immunosupression. An ideal strategy that would lead to the elimination of the immune response would be to induce peripheral T-cell tolerance specifically for the adenoviral vector. The maintenance of peripheral T-cell tolerance depends on the clonal elimination of T-cells that are antigen-specific.

Embryonic stem cell lines from human blastocysts: somatic differentiation in vitro
Article Abstract:
The article describes the derivation of pluripotent embryonic stem (ES) cells from human blastocysts. While maintaining expression of markers characteristic of pluripotent primate cells, two diploid ES cell lines have been cultivated.
