Insider's argot
Article Abstract:
Chartered accountants must be able to establish a strong relationship with brokers or financial advisers through the use of comprehensible language. Doing so does not only give them a chance to do away with unnecessary misunderstandings but avoid costly legal contentions as well. Some of the terms which chartered accountants must be familiar with include financial planner, stock market indexes, random walk, financial press and others. They may also use the term managed money in referring to mutual funds and other types of investment counselling or substitute the expression stockbroker when citing an intermediary to a sale of purchase of stocks or bonds.

Governing principles
Article Abstract:
Royal Bank of Canada's report on Corporate Governance underscores the importance of having a board of directors able to implement its policies free from the unnecessary influence of corporate management. According to the 1994 Toronto Stock Exchange report on corporate governance, having a chairman who is not a member of management is one way of guaranteeing board independence. Chartered accountants can figure prominently in fostering corporate governance by helping firms develop sound governance practices and by assisting directors in implementing their duties.
