Investors see hope amid the turbulence

Article Abstract:

The outlook for economies of Latin American countries in 2006 does not appear very rosy. Likely risks because of inflation, populist policies, political agendas and elections, which will affect the fiscal discipline and market reforms in these countries, are discussed. The economic conditions in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela are discussed. Foreign investors expect the region to witness reasonably good growth in 2006 because of strong commodity prices.

Article Abstract:

The resilience in Brazil's economy is discussed. It withstood the recent scandal surrounding President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Many foreign investors would have got cold feet but for country's capital markets which remained firmly in place. A few of Brazils leading companies are discussed.
