Issues of quality and practicability in task analysis: preliminary results from two surveys

Article Abstract:

Two surveys of task analysis conducted in the UK demonstrated a wide variability between them, both in terms of depth of analysis and level of reporting. The surveys had some limitations which included data sources and methods that were often not specified or described in sufficient detail. Thus, conclusions about the use of specific task analysis techniques may only be supported with limited evidence. Further study of task analysis techniques is needed to provide guidance regarding the selection and use of task analysis methods and the reporting of task analysis findings.

Compensation for occupational injuries and diseases: its effect upon prevention at the workplace

Article Abstract:

Analysis of 965 blue collar workers in the French-speaking zone of Switzerland reveals that injuries and diseases occurring in the work-place are not adequately compensated. Efforts should be made to make the work-place ergonomically safe as insurers generally do not consider the work environment when awarding compensation.
