LATE RESEARCH COULD BRING BAD NEWS: MARKETERS PLAN AHEAD TO AVOID SHELVING PRODUCTS, LOSING MONEY

Article Abstract:

Jonathan Hilland of Reality Research Inc of Austin, TX, says that many companies wait until the last moment to do market research and that research results often do not match what a product's creative team expects. Lack of business and marketing experience on the part of technical pesonnel, such as programmers and engineers, is one of the major causes for problems when this approach is taken, according to Hilland. Marketing experts believe that it is better to do market research parallel with or ahead of product development.

Publishing Web sites spur audit battle

There is a need for audit services for business publications on the Internet as more advertisers utilize this medium. The advertisers are likely to demand third-party audits from these publications. This is the service three firms are striving to impress on Web publishers. These firms are BPA International, Audit Bureau of Circulations and Internet Profiles Corp. These companies study log files on the Web site and adjust statistics taking into account internal users and automated programs.
