Lobbyists' pentobarbital claims tested by FDA
Article Abstract:
A few pet owner lobby groups in the United States have accused the Food and Drug Administration of covering up the problem of frequent contamination of commercial pet food with residues from pentobarbital. However, the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine has almost finished a study to determine if the substance actually exists in dog food and if so, what potential risk it could cause dogs. According to the CVM, so far, the levels of pentobarbital residue have been found to be extremely low.
