Lockheed, Northrop could speed deepwater construction output

The top leaders of Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman stated that they could accelerate the construction and delivery of new Coast Guard cutters and other assets if Congress would help in providing them with funds. Under a $17 billion Deepwater contract awarded in the year 2002, the Coast Guard is going to receive a new fleet of three sizes of cutters, along with airplanes, helicopters and other such equipment.

Coast Guard deepwater program advancing smartly
Article Abstract:
The Integrated Coast Guard Systems consortium of Northrop Grumman Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation was awarded the $24 billion Deepwater contract in 2002. The program to acquire new, refurbished or leased cutters, airplanes, helicopters and unmanned platforms for the Coast Guard is progressing smoothly.
