Lockheed profits soar 52.7 percent in quarter, 44.2 percent in 2005

The largest defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. has reported an increase of 52.7% in the last quarter of 2005 and 44.2% for all of 2005. The robust results were due to some one-time windfalls, such as sales of stock, and the full-year results have showed good profit growth, rising to $1.825 billion in all of 2005 compared to $1.266 billion in 2004.

The sixth largest defense contractor, United Technologies Corporation's profits totaled $650 million during October through December in 2004, a 10.5 percent advance from the $588 million in the fourth quarter of 2003. For all of 2004, United Technologies Corporation profits jumped 18.1 percent, compared to the $2.361 billion showing in 2003.

United Technologies Corp. (UTC ), a leading defense contractor recorded a robust 18.5 percent growth in net-income profits (amounting to $821 million) during the third quarter 2005. The performance prompted UTC to raise its earning-per-share forecasts for all of 2005 and predict continued sterling performance in 2006.
