Asset-swap builders in strategic breakthrough
Article Abstract:
Tarmac and Wimpey are two UK construction concerns which aim to exchange assets as part of a restructuring process. Tarmac's house building division will be acquired by Wimpey, the biggest UK housebuilder. Wimpey's construction and minerals division will go to Tarmac. This move allows the two companies to restructure without having to sell assets too cheaply. Wimpey will have a stake of some 10% in the UK market and aims to build over 13,000 homes annually.
